Day 10 - Sept 10 - Transportation Sensation

Imagine using every form of transportation available, except your own car, and perhaps a bike, or maybe roller blades, and a skate board... Anyway, today we go up early (more crepes - Hooray!) and caught a taxi to the port. From there, we boarded a ferry for Rafina. The ferry ride was 5 hours long (which I didn't mind because I am in the middle of the "Shopoholic" books given to me by a friend from yoga and I am getting sucked in! Thanks Jessica!)

After the ferry, and a whole 1/2 a book later, we caught a bus to Athens. There was a very small girl on the bus who kept talking to me in what I presume was Greek. I couldn't understand her. She kept tapping me on the shoulder, saying something, and then making a very evil face. I just kept telling her that I didn't understand, but she was very persistant. Finally, after this went on for a few rounds, another passenger said something to her in the same language and all I could catch was "tourist." I think he told her to leave the poor uni-linguistic tourist alone & hooray for that because she really did look evil!

After the bus, we were on our own. Let free in the streets of Athens with a book on Greece, two red suitcases, and NO idea where we were. We started walking. After a few blocks and some stops in coffee shops to see if anyone had heard of our hotel (not through Skoosh, but hotels.com), we decided to look at the map. This led to a few debates as to which direction we were actually going, which then led us to the steps of the second most quaint hotel in the world! We loved it! It was very artisty and a little out of town.

From the hotel, we took the subway into town for some more shopping. Steve was not happy about the shopping and claimed to be so hungry he couldn't live, but we still didn't have a gift for my father and we couldn't risk the stores closing before something was purchased. After much debating & "fight inducing" sigh from Steve, we found the right gift and the right restaurant. It was perfect Greek cuisine and Steve was finally able to return to his normal charming self to enjoy our last night here.

So - Taxi to Ferry to Bus to Feet to Subway to exhaustion and bed!
