For His Birthday.

Around Wesley's birthday the little neighbor boy also had a birthday. While it was fun to have two birthdays in two weeks, it also elicited a lot of fighting over their new presents. One solution I could think of was to kindly remind Wesley that some of the toys that he wanted to play with were Espen's brand new toys that he had just received for his birthday and that Espen was not ready to share them. This seemed to make sense to Wes and seemed to be a good way to diffuse the situation. However... Now, 2 1/2 months later Wesley is constantly declaring that he doesn't have to share anything because he got it for his birthday. For example: the small green bouncy ball that has been sitting in the ball bin for as long as I can remember? Yes, it is not to be touched by anyone because he announced he got it for his birthday and it is special. What about the blue bowl they both wanted for their apple yesterday? Yep. His. Remember? He got it for his birthday. Or what about the cozy spot on the couch where they both want to sit to watch Doc McStuffins? Best birthday present ever! The latest of amazing presents was the weed he pulled from under the deck. He showed it to me and then proudly said, "Mine. Got it my birthday. Don't touch."
