Spider!

I forgot to post about how little faith in me my son has. I guess I don't blame him seeing as a GIANT spider was involved, but it was still a little disheartening to see how convinced he was that we were DOOMED! Here's what happened: Steve had to go to Portland again for work a few weeks ago. Early one morning Evan ran into the bathroom to go potty. When he was done I picked up the little wooden stool from in front of the tub and moved it in front of the sink so he could wash his hands.  When I picked up the stool, sitting on the rug was one of the biggest, most hideous spiders I have ever seen. I am talking like the size of a silver dollar with legs and all!

When we saw the spider, Evan started screaming. I wanted to start screaming, but didn't want to wake Wesley. I pretended to be calm and asked Evan to please stop screaming. He sounded all panicked and said, "but mom! How are YOU going to get the spider?!"

Honestly, I didn't know! I put my bravest face on, grabbed the nearest shoe and squashed the sucker! As we watched him flush down the toilet I admitted to Evan that I didn't know how I was going to get it either, but we were both relieved that bugger was no longer calling our house his home!!!

As a mom we are supposed to be able to do everything. We are supposed to know where everything is in the house and are supposed to have the solution to all problems because, well because we are the mom. However, it is good to know that we are not expected to do EVERYTHING. Some things, like spiders, are better left for the dads.
