On the day that Jen and I completed our 5K, I was driving home and I heard something on the radio that said that there was traffic in Seattle due to the St. Patrick's Day parade. After hearing this traffic report, I quickly called Jen and asked her if she wanted to go to the parade with me. We had a lot of other really important things to do, we were tired from our race, there was a high possibility of rain, neither Steve or Greg thought this was a good idea, and the radio had just confirmed TRAFFIC. But, why not?! We were already decked out in our St. Patty's Day race wear and the parade came complete with FREE rides on the Monorail. This was a perfect opportunity to do something very Seattle-esque so we packed our lunches, threw our people in the car and headed out. As my car got to the monorail Evan started getting very nervous.
Him: "Mom, is Jennifer going to come?"
Me: "Yes, Evan. She is bringing her kids and we are all going to ride this train thing."
Him: "But mom, is Jennifer going to come?"
Me: "Yes, buddy. They are coming."
Him: "Mom?"
Me: "What?"
Him: "Is Jennifer going to come."
This conversation continued while we hopped on the monorail at the Seattle Center and rode to the center of down town to meet Jen and her people. The parade was down town and we figured it might be easier for them to park that direction and catch the free monorail ride back to the Seattle Center. The parade was small, but had a lot of bag pipes. (Kiki LOVES bag pipes). We soaked in the St. Patrick's Day air and headed back to the Seattle Center. We caught the train just before a HUGE down pour of rain dumped on the city. After spending some quality time at the "Irish Festival" (which came complete with Irish dancing - you know the kind where the strange girls in wigs dance without moving their arms...) we ended up at the Science Center.
As we started walking around the Science Center, Jen and I remembered that somewhere, sometime, we had read on the internet that the Science Center was one of the places in Seattle where you could find an old school photo booth. We had been dying to take our families to the photo booth and figured there was no better time! We searched out the photo booth and took the first of what we hope will be many St. Patrick's Day shots of each of us squished in the little booth!
Long story, short? March adventure = success!
