SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!

Ok, so if you live in Utah, Iowa, the East Coast, or basically anywhere but here, you are probably sick of hearing about how we got so much snow! and the city had to close down! and I couldn't get to work! and Steve had to take my car to work because the Prius couldn't make it!  Yes, I understand.  AND, quite frankly, I used to agree with you.  A little snow?  Who cares!?  Brush it off and deal with it.  However, in this city, they don't really believe in plows.  They only started to believe in sanding the majority of the big roads quite recently, and if we are lucky we might get a little of the un-enviornmentally safe salt sprinkled on the freeway for good measure.  This city really does shut down.  No other real option.  If you can't travel safely on the roads you have no choice but to find snow pants, mittens, snow tubes and hit the streets for some good old fashioned sledding down the middle of the road!  (Evan and I had a blast sledding down the street by our house.  Unfortunately because it was just he and I, I wasn't able to get any pictures, but I thought I would at least blog to remember that my cautious little guy actually dared to get on the tube, allowed me to pull him down the driveway, and then proceeded to ride on the tube, laying on his back, all the while opening his mouth trying to catch snow flakes while we pulled to the top of the slightly steep hill.  I got on with him and, while he tried to maintain control of the speed with his little boots dragging, he LOVED it).

In Seattle's defense, the news said that we "couldn't handle a light dusting," but I wouldn't exactly call THIS a light storm!

The snow started at the beginning of the week and kept going all week long. We sledded, we walked in the snow, we drank hot chocolates, we went in and out, we got cookies from the little old lady down the street for bringing her mail to her (she saw us all decked out in our snow gear and asked if we wouldn't mind bringing her the mail - her driveway was covered and she was afraid of falling). By the end of the week we were a little stir crazy, but had a great time finding ways to entertain ourselves.

The last three pictures are of Evan with his precious little turtle blanket tied around him like a dress.  He LOVES to wear it this way and will leave it on for hours while he does other things.  :)

Yes! You converted to sledding on the street:) Sometimes it takes a child to make us do the things we never thought we would and to enjoy the things we never thought we could. Glad you both had great snow days!
