The morning of the Arlington Trick or Treat I was lying in bed thinking of the cute Lion costume that I had for Evan. Emilee had made the lion suit and brought it here from Utah. When I showed it to Evan, he said, "NO!" I put it away and tried again in a few days, "NOOOO!" Hmm. Maybe if I don't talk about it and just put it on him. "NOOOOOOOOOO!" Well, maybe I could make him an elf suit if he really hates the lion. So fast forward to the morning in question. I was lying there awake at around 7:00 am thinking how I really should get up if I was going to attempt to make the elf suit and make it to Arlington by noon. (Jen had stressed that the whole thing only lasted an hour so if we were late, we would miss it all). I started mentally going through my supplies. Felt - check. Little sparkly balls - check. Rick Rack - check. But how was I going to make the pants? Then it hit me - last year's stripey christmas jammies - check!
I gathered my materials, made up a little pattern for the shoes and the suit and started sewing. Around 10:45, I gathered up the miscellaneous items and hopped in the car with thread and needle in hand. Luckily Arlington is about 1 hour away so I had plenty of time to sew on the details and when we got out of the car and put all the pieces on him... you can imagine one of my proudest moments:
He LOVED the costume! On the actual Halloween day he even started crying when he couldn't wear his elf shoes to Jennifer's with Kristi for the day. I have to admit this little number definitely deserved the 2nd place prize! It was a "make it work moment" from project runway and I was proud! Not to mention how excited I was that all the supplies were already in my closet! (another true dream of mine!)

Good job! I am proud of you for making it work. He is so adorable! can you believe that he and Maddie are going to be two in a few short weeks? sigh! I have to say I love this age, but I don't want my baby to keep growing so fast.
