On the Sat before Easter, Jen had an easter egg hunt at her house. Last year, Ben hosted a wonderful egg hunt and vowed he would do it every year. This year, as Easter approached, I asked him about the annual hunt and was informed that he and Kelsey were going to Spokane for a concert. Awesome. So... Jen to the rescue! She invited one of her friends who has two kids, me (with my one kid), and my friend, Beth (no kids). Add them all up and the grand total of Easter Egg hunters was: three young boys and two young babies. Perfect! Actually, to be honest, it wasn't really perfect for me, but that was because Evan wasn't feeling well. He didn't want to be held, but he didn't want to be set down. He didn't want to play and he DEFINITELY did not want anything to do with an egg or any sort of hunt with a basket.
Ivy, on the other hand, was estactic! She ended up finding all Evan's eggs and I was glad she was such a willing helper! When we left her basket was empty and her face was covered with chocolate. It was her dream day!
The actual gathering at Jen's was fun. We made our favorite foods and hung out. The weather was perfect, in fact, probably one of the best days of the year so far! Thanks Jen for having the hunt when Ben so easily forgot about his "tradition."
On Easter, Evan still was not feeling well. He had been up multiple times in the night with a fever of 103. We were both really tired and not much fun for our Easter morning. I did, however, manage to get some pretty awesome pictures. I think this pretty much sums up our morning...
The E.B. (aka the Easter Bunny) brought him the giant blue ball he has been dying for at Target, an adorable stuffed duck, and the ageless classic of the poppy toy shown below. (Does it have an actual name?) After breakfast, he purked up a little to drag the poppy toy around the house, but he still refused to smile for me.
The E.B. gave me some cute Easter kitchen towells and I was actually shocked. Steve and I are constantly having a battle over the kitchen towells. I want cute ones to match the kitchen, the holiday, or the season. He wants ones that are "super absorbent" and has even gone as far as to say we should get some of those lame white towells like they use in bars due to their super absorbent nature. Um, Nope. Anyway, the little towells I got in my Easter basket are not fuzzy, absorbent, or even practical, but they do have pastel Easter Eggs and zig zag lines! I couldn't believe my luck!
DENTIST:
On the Tues after Easter, Evan had his first dentist apt. He did so good! He sat on my lap and let the dentist look in his mouth. He didn't have any cavities (not yet at least - I am not holding my breath on that one, especially if cavities are passed down from mother to son), and his teeth are looking good! One thing off my list of things to do... Take your child in to the dentist, CHECK!
SANS BINKY:
Jen took Ivy and Owen to the dentist the week before and was told that Ivy's binky might be the culprit for her crooked little teeth. The dentist didn't seem too worried about it, but told Jen she may want to get rid of the beloved bink. Jen, being the good sister she is, quickly called me up and gave me the heads up before my apt. I had been wondering when we would have the "battle of binky" and be forced to get rid of it. Evan didn't seem to care about it... too much. He liked it when he was feeling sick, or going to bed, or riding in the car... :) I liked it when I was trying to talk to a client and I needed him to stay quiet for a few minutes. BUT we decided to try. The first couple of days were easy. No binky in the day - only at night. He didn't even seem to notice. The next couple of days were hard... for me. He got sick and my plan was out the window. The next couple of days after that, however, have been a walk in the park. I took all the binkies and hid them in the top drawer of his dresser. I figured out of sight, out of mind, right? YES!!! He hasn't used one in the day or the night for 3 days now. Who would have thought this would be so easy? (Knock on wood!)

Yes, this confirms it, he is a genius! Sounds like he is feeling better, too! Yeah!
So sad when they are sick and especially when it is a holiday. I am glad you took pictures it will be a great memory in the years to come. He is so sweet! Glad the dentist was a good experience - I haven't had too many good experiences at the dentist's office. LOL! Way to start him off right! Miss you!
Love,
Aunt Cathy
Congrats on sans-binky! I'm a little terrified of when that day comes for our Boy. He loves his "me-me" and we even sing a song about it....is that bad?
I know what it's like to have a sick kid on holidays--NO BUENO! We have one picture of this past Christmas (and that was when he was in the bathtub....) because, unbeknownst to us, he had a double ear-infection. Good for you for being a trooper and trying to cheer him up!
You are a great mom!
