today

Three things happened today.  Ok, well, more than three things happened throughout the whole day, but there were three VERY noteworthy things...
1 - I ran a 5K.   Yes, ran the whole thing.  From start to finish.  I didn't die.  In fact, I didn't even feel like I was going to die too much!  One of my goals for 2011 was to run a 5K.  I didn't give myself a time goal for running it because, quite frankly, I didn't think that I would be able to do it.  BUT... I DID!  33 min. and 9 sec.  It was pouring rain.  Steve's joints were hurting and we laughed as we ran realizing that we are in our 30's! Evan did wonderful riding in the jogging stroller.  He was protected from the elements (love the stroller!) and made little barking noises every time we saw a dog.  What a happy day!

This is post race, soaking wet!
2 - The next thing that happened is not so exciting.  Before going to boot camp this morning, Steve put his ipod in his short's pocket.  He was in a rush to get ready for boot camp and, after changing clothes, he put the shorts in the laundry pile.  Now, while he was gone, being the laundry loving wife I am, I started doing load after load.  Washing, drying, folding.  When he got back, I changed the last load and started the dryer.  All we could hear was a loud clunking sound.  "What is that?!" Steve asked.  Me: "probably just the extremely large jewel on the front of my new pants."  - (yes, bedazzled pants and me have found one another!)  Steve:  "are you sure? I didn't think that jewel was THAT big."  Me: "I am quite certain, but I will check."
I took all the clothes out of the dryer, turns out, it wasn't the jewel.  Nope.  It was Steve's precious ipod.  Still in the pocket of his shorts.  Clunking away!  OH NO!!  Now, some of you may know how much Steve LOVES this ipod.  He is constantly on it.  (Or should I say, "was" constantly on it).  Games, music, internet.  ALWAYS on it.  Not anymore.

Here is the ipod soaking in rice in an attempt to save it.  Steve says it has a 5% chance of coming back from the dead.  I say it has a 1% chance.  RIP little ipod.

(now, this post cannot be complete without also injecting a little bit of my skepticism as to the events of the day.  The play by play listed above is factual.  That is how things happened, but I would like to also point out a few tidbits of info that may help you to form your own opinion... take sides if you must)
fact #1-- yesterday Steve and I were talking about him wanting an ipad2 (wanting it so bad that he would fore go going to a Hawkeye game with ALL of his friends to buy the ipad instead); fact #2-- the ipad 2 came out on Friday; fact #3-- Steve has decided not to replace the ipod, but instead get himself the ipad; fact #4-- Steve wouldn't have had to "accidentally" ruin his ipod to convince me to get him an ipad.   I probably would have said it was a ridiculous purchase, BUT, in the long run I would have let him do it.  He is frivolous and I am a sucker.

Here they are researching the ipad...

3 - this one is something that can benefit you all.  For the second day in a row I have eaten Baskin Robbins "flavor of the month"  -- LUCKY MINT!!!  Oh, little piece of heaven, how I adore you!  Chocolate.  Mint.  Cookies.
