Trip Home

We are all going to Utah tomorrow and we are so excited. Today Jen and Em planned out all the eating we will do while we are there (we cannot travel 3,000 miles and not have breadsticks from the Pizza Factory). I was happy to hear they also included a trip to Sweet Tomatoes. (sometimes you just need a tiny ice cream cone!) When we talk about Utah, we all say, "we are going home to Utah." Ben keeps telling us that you can't say "home" to Utah when you don't live there anymore. As long as I have lived away (10 years now), it still feels like home.

It is "home" because:
There is family there.
I barely notice the overwhelming feeling of the mountains surrounding the area. (When Steve first came to Utah, he just kept talking about how close they were to the city).
There is fry sauce.
I know where to find a "rainbow snow" during the summer.
The weather forecast doesn't always say, "chance of rain."
There is a V on the mountain.
Albertson's is still on the corner.
Grandma's pool.
The iron bar in front of Grandma Ethel's house probably still has bees living in it.
Reading Wranglers are the best.
The streets are set up in squares.
Raspberries grow rampant.
The tar filling on the street is much cooler on bare feet than the asphalt in 96 degree weather.
Sometimes it smells like the Great Salt Lake.
People say, "Alta" with a an "Al" sound instead of an "All" sound.
A 1/2 inch of snow doesn't shut down the city.
Pick a mall, any mall.
Go Utes.
Smoot Park.
and... Centerville tap water.

Reason enough? :)
