Good bye baby weight that is. I am putting this out there in blog world to hold myself accountable. Ok, here it goes...with this pregnancy I gained almost 40 lbs. (Thankfully he came early or I would have officially passed the 40 lb mark - scary!) Now, six weeks post baby I am 12 lbs away from pre-baby weight. On Monday, I went to the Dr. for my six week visit. I carried Wesley (and his car seat) into the Dr.'s office (and secretly forgot to mention the few times I had carried him in the seat or taken the stroller out of the car in the days before the appointment). When he asked me if I had been good about my C-Section restrictions - my answer? "Yes, Dr. - a perfect patient." (I am sorry for breaking the rules a tiny bit, but it was getting a little ridiculous. I felt FINE! Actually, I felt fine since about week 2, so I think making it without breaking the rules sooner was actually quite the accomplishment!)
At the appointment, I asked the Dr. if I could start some sort of exercise routine again. He finished the exam and, to my true delight, announced that all restrictions were lifted and I was free to run out of the office if I felt like it. Hooray! I made it! I went six (ish) weeks without lifting Evan, or Wesley in his seat, with having to ask for help for stupid little tasks including carrying laundry downstairs. I made it and I was just given the green light to freedom!
That day I quickly texted Al, the bootcamp guy, and asked if there was room for me in the 6:00 class. I also texted Steve to let him know that he would be parenting solo for a few hours - twice a week. I am on a mission!
On Monday, I went to bootcamp with Jen (hooray for being able to do the class together again as it has been a long time since we were able to both go without pregnancies!) I went again tonight and loved every minute of it. Well, I didn't really love it when I had to carry buckets with 60 lb weights in them, but that was only for 2 min. out of 60. My legs are so sore I can't really walk right now... moving is more like a shuffle, but it feels WONDERFUL!
Jen did things well with regard to getting back to her pre-pregnancy self. She decided it took her 9 months to gain the baby weight wtih Autumn and she was going to give herself 9 months to lose it. No pressure. I am going to copy her. My goal:
12 lbs GONE by St. Patrick's Day.
Running the St. Patrick's Day 5K
Fitting into my pre-pregnancy sparkly butt jeans again (oh how I miss you!)
I am giving myself until St. Patrick's Day (approximately 9 months post baby) because, let's face it, I am absolutely in love with a little cup of chocolate chips while watching tv after the kids go to bed and, quite frankly, I am not ready to be a crazy weight loss fool... just anxious to feel like my self again!
Good luck to me, good luck to Steve on Monday and Wednesday nights, and good bye baby weight!
